   @NirtyDigger I was all excited about my girl getting into baking when she bought some of that special etsy cave sourdough starter, and after a couple weeks I asked why she hasn’t made any more bread and she said

   “oh man that stuff’s so expensive though! It’s like, forty bucks just for a couple loaves of bread? No thank you!”

   She…… didn’t ‘get’ that you use that starter to begin making your own blob. She treated it like raw materials.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @NirtyDigger hmm, we got a sketti machine i could amke fresh sketti, i also got tomatoes, i could make fresh sauce, big think, might do it one of these daysjust to have it on the list of htings i have and cna do.

     @robbie @NirtyDigger It was okay, she parceled out the starter over a couple months. I just assumed she understood why it’s called.. y’know, starter.

     But I like her having her own hobbies, instead of backseat driving everything. I want her occupying her time with stuff she can teach me, so even if it’s a little incorrect I just nod along and praise her while she learns

     @robbie @NirtyDigger I find a lot of us really shoot stuff down too quick w/o realizing that girls are SUPER sensitive to our critiques and criticism. ONE comment can completely torpedo something she likes. One ex got really into sewing this one type of hat, and it still fills me with guilt how I once told her I didn’t like the style very much and she never made another one again.

     Mistakes like that when you’re young are necessary training for a dude, you learn to appreciate everything she does and steer it towards what you want.

     yeah, I'm guilty of this at times, still learning tho I don't feel so young anymore
     
     fortunately she called me out on it once and I've tried to be much more cognizant of it
