@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Only way I'll ever update Windows is through a modified version that has all the crap stripped out. :shrug:
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin So basically not 100%. Guess I'm not switching :SayoriFingerguns:
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin thats fine. windows will get worse and linux better :shrug:
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin that pretty much is already the case except the 40% of anti cheat games that don't support linux but that number is steadily decreasing see areweanticheatyet.com
-
@RecycleBin @DarkMahesvara Once I am able to play every single Windows game on Linux without a virtual machine or some weird workaround, I'll switch over. Until then, nah :SayoriFingerguns:
-
@DarkMahesvara i wonder how bad things need to get before normies will consider switching to linux.
-
@Ronnie21093 @DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Its called AtlasOS
https://atlasos.net
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 Seethe :keku:
-
@Tamamo @Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin you mean the thing linus(x) tech incompetency tips recommended? lmao they delete some build in stuff and set registry values at most also its not nearly. also they disable printing
-
@Tamamo @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 says the guy downloading some random off brand windows version to cope with the spying and horrible new "feature" :laugh:
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 >Off brand windows version
:reimu_sigh: Its still windows 10. Its just a tool to automate bloat removal.
Tools like these have existed for just about every windows version.
-
@Iffine @DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 Dude your obscure doujin games work just fiiiiiiiiiine on linux.
You just have to jump though 25 hoops and fuck around in the terminal and pray you didn't break something else in the process.
-Every linux fag ever.
-
@DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin I know I'm busting into this conversation a bit, but man linux isn't a be all end all solution to everything right now. I've tried secondary machines on linux with proton and whatnot, and it does work, it solves a lot of issues. But it doesn't do everything, and can't run everything. And as of right now, that's linux as a whole. It can't do everything windows can but uses a bunch of alternatives or quick and dirty fixes to try. I know it's just my personal shithole collection of games, but I'm genuinely pissed at a machine when I can't run random obscure doujin games on it, and linux to me. It works for the big shit, but straying out too far is not suggested.
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Plus, I play games that I know won't work on Linux, even with Proton.
And then there's Arma 3. Technically it has a Linux version, but it is EXTREMELY out of date, and the mod handling for the Windows version doesn't really like Linux.
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin again with proton it does not matter if there is a native linux version :shrug:
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin you dont need to run proton lmao. its literally build into steam
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin how does it matter to you if its natively or not. its functionally the same (its not emulation). non-steam games can simply be added as non steam games or run with launcher like lutris. proton can be used outside of steam.
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin It's not functionally the same BECAUSE I NEED TO RUN PROTON BEFORE I CAN RUN A GAME NOT NATIVELY SUPPORTED ON LINUX. THE POINT IS I WANT TO BE ABLE TO RUN A GAME WITHOUT HAVING TO RUN PROTON. IT'S THAT FUCKING SIMPLE. :jahy_scream:
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Proton still isn't "natively", though. The point is, I want to be able to play games WITHOUT having to resort to something like Proton.
And you know I'm not just talking about Steam games. There are non-Steam games that would require weird workarounds or virtual machines.
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin "weird workaround" is usually setting a steam launch option (same as in windows) or switching proton version (2 click). needing a VM has been long a thing from the past.
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Still, I'm not switching to an OS that lets me play less games natively than Windows and makes me either find a weird workaround or use a virtual machine.
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin then you will never update cause that is impossible as long as its closed source and at some point windows or software will force you to update
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin Guess I'll just be on Windows 10 for the long foreseeable future unless Linux suddenly gets 100% support for every single game, both new and old.
-
@Ronnie21093 @RecycleBin not even windows 10/11 has 100% of windows gaming support lol
-
@DarkMahesvara @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 >you still trust some unknown 3rd party
So? The linux development community is teeming with deranged trannies. :shrug:
-
@Tamamo @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 you still trust some unknown 3rd party
>Tools like these have existed for just about every windows version.
yeah and same as always they incomplete and probably will break or stop being supported :shrug:
-
@DarkMahesvara @Iffine @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 AtlasOS tool does everything in a nice GUI. :tamamo_dab:
-
@Tamamo @Iffine @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 i find it hilarious you complain about using a terminal (it does not need that) while advertising "debloat" tools which also need them to "fix" windows.
-
@DarkMahesvara @Tamamo @Iffine @RecycleBin @Ronnie21093 you know linux sounds like dogshit tbh
