is it actually? game lets you die->equip items->revive from generous checkpoints indefinitely right? and i assume you can posture abuse like sekiro? doesnt seem so hard but i see baldmongold is getting his ass kicked right now. i guess games are just harder when you have to actually think and cant just go find exploits in the open world lmao :pepeLaugh3:

@Marakus @smugumin That first major boss in AC6 was a bit eye opening. I had to swap around a bunch of different strategies and run head first into it for hours just to find something that could deal with both the AC encounter before the boss and still deal with the boss after the fact (though I think the boss was a little health bloated for my tastes, even with effective weaponry for it's gimmick you still basically burn through everything killing it).
Had to get the right set of equipment for the job, and then I had to learn how to use my tools to the fullest. Got comfortable with the effective ranges of my weapons and stopped expending ammo on ineffective shots, started mixing in Boost kicks to get extra chunks of damage without expending ammo, started figuring out how to weave through it's attacks with only superficial damage.
Wish more games were made like it, I really feel like I'm being tested on my knowledge of the game in a satisfying way.

@supersid333 @smugumin While not "the only one", its mostly correct. Games are designed to be beatable by anyone with a pulse, these days. I would separate difficulty and effort. Old quest games were impossible without walkthrough, no matter how much effort you put into them, solution to the puzzle might have been "you screwed yourself over by not waiting 5 minutes while doing nothing". It doesnt matter how much effort you put in. And most fromsoft games are not exactly difficult, but you cant beat them without putting any effort, even if its just a little bit of reading how mechanics work and memorizing boss patterns.

@smugumin Someone said something earlier about From Soft being the only AAA scope dev that doesn't make games that hold your hand very hard. It's not that the games are really that hard, it's that they don't just outright hand you the answer to your problems. You gotta toil at least a bit to beat them, whether that comes out to swapping up your weapons, using the ones you have more effectively, or just getting comfortable the enemy's movements.
