@Suzu Samsung made that girl Sam as a mascot recently, didn't they? I wonder if she's any relevant anymore. Perhaps they can follow Opera's trend and make use of her that way.

@MoeBritannica I think the difference is that Hololive/nijisanji/whatever are companies that work by managing vtubers.
The "corporate vtuber" is a vtuber that works as an asset of a corporation that does something else, and just has the vtuber as a promoter of their products.
So if the trend continues, we'll see the Sony vtuber, the Microsoft vtuber, the Samsung vtuber, etc, and they'll suck the hobby of it's entire soul and turn it into an empty husk.

@Suzu That's so weird... only in Brazil? Also yikes she has some terrible uncanny valley :cirno_what:

@Cayhr @MoeBritannica it's pretty interesting, actually. "Sam" was released in 2021, and she was just a 3D model with no girl underneath, there is no rig, she's just a mascot used for promotional videos.
After her debut, she was talked about for a few months, then Samsung forgot she existed, and she fell off everyone's radar.
Then, Samsung ressurrected her earlier this year. In fucking Brazil. There is a page dedicated to her, like a "blog", with posts and videos and shit like that.

@MoeBritannica 75k viewers breaks twitch huh
-
@Cayhr @MoeBritannica yeah, as I said, she's just a 3D model animated by hand, there is no rig, no actor behind it, nothing. So there's no live videos, just the promos.
As for why they decided to bring her up again in Brazil? I have absolutely no idea, because no one talks about her in here too.

@Suzu A funny case of a company forgetting it has assets available to them...
A lot of artists did fanart of Sam when she was revealed back then, too. Kinda funny to think about lol

@MoeBritannica BOI aside, I wonder how many of those views were spoofed? :doge_laugh:

@Cayhr @MoeBritannica yeah. And actually, other companies have tried over the years to do stuff like this to be "different" and "attract younger customers", and it never worked because the marketing guys are morons.
That's why the Opera GX vtuber is "groundbreaking". You may not like them (I don't like them), but you have to admit their marketing team knows zoomers, by what you can see on their twitter account, so they'll probably push it for it to be a success.
And then the other companies will take notice.

@Suzu @Cayhr @MoeBritannica literally like 15k people were watching
