     @dcz@fosstodon.org @fosstodon@fosstodon.org Ironically, this new CoC rule goes against their own rules laid out earlier on that page.If you would like to exercise your full free speech rights, you can do so somewhere elseIs there any way to see who tried to sneakily add in that CoC rule? Or do they conveniently not have any logs about such changes?

     @tyil @fosstodon I have CoCs in all my projects that receive contributions. I think they are useful.

     I'm happy to abide by them, too. They help make the instance what it is, and it is enjoyable.

     But that one rule is crossing the line for me.

     Good thing there's logs, though. Now anyone with even the tiniest moral compass can point to it and tell that guy to stop being a controlfreak. Or just drop Fosstodon already, ofc, we don't need more mega instances.

     The whole world of liability is becoming dangerous, especially for any free organisation without funds to fight legal battles.

     Bro, if they're hosting in the US, they are not even legally liable to most things said on their own platform, let alone others. This is a bullshit excuse.

     This is not about Fosstodon's federation policies or what happens on their platform. It's a childish attempt at totalitarian control. They desire a certain worldview, and will use any possible avenue they have at their disposal to force you into compliance.
     
     This is the usual motive behind CoCs, so I can't say I'm surprised.
