Most people do not live on a farm. Why even bother to compare it.

Sure, plenty of posers don't use them for that, but plenty more are used as intended. Every brick, bag of cement, yard of sand, and bale of straw that went into my cob oven came home in my truck bed. I've rebuilt my house, from th3 foundation on up, and every piece of material was transported in my truck. I've camped off-grid, towed boats and other vehicles with it. As I mentioned earlier, indispensable.

I'd rather have driven my truck over 30 km of boulder strewn logging roads than a Golf or a Smart car getting to my favourite camping site. And I sure as shit wouldn't want to tow another vehicle with a Golf, either.

The transmission is not intended for the kind of weight a trailer adds. The truck gets used around the farm, hauls feed and lumber, and tows cars and a big commercial mower on a trailer.
People who think we don’t need trucks for what we do need to stop and consider how good of friends I’d be with my VW mechanic if I tried to do any of it with my wife’s Golf. Great little car to drive but it’s not a truck, and isn’t meant to replace one.

Totally legal in my part of the world. And trucks are pretty much what everyone drives around here. I've used it a hundred times or more for various home projects, including hauling literally tons of gravel, rock, sand, dirt, and building materials. And it took me and my wife on a 14000 km cross-country road trip last summer. Trucks are an indispensable part of life.

In my country you would be pulled of the road within 5 minutes, receive an “interesting” fine and be forced to find another way to get that home. Oh, and half a tank would probably cost you way more also. One reason why nobody here drives such trucks in the first place.

Owning a truck that can do that: Priceless. Except for gas; I haven't driven it in a week or more, and found today the missus had driven it to near empty. A hundred bucks got me a half tank. Ayaah!
