     @Moon @olmitch @burner Well, that’s how you put on a good show - you have to provide a balance for returning listeners and new people who haven’t seen anything before.

     Broadcasting takes a different skill set than just getting blazed w/ friends and bullshitting for an hour, people seriously underestimate how tough it is to put on a good show. Charm only goes so far.

     @olmitch @burner what also made me think of this was he had a guest on that was talking about a theory in a book. i don't remember the year but joe had the author of that book on the show to talk about the book. and i was like does he not remember that?

     @olmitch @burner @Moon We were talking about how TOm leykis was an actor of sorts earlier, after talking about it at work I realized the same people that point and laugh at wrestling for being “lol sooooo fake” are the same people who think they’re getting a 100% straight, unadulterated character from everyone on the radio, live TV, and streaming.

     In actuality, it’s ALL kayfabe.

     @olmitch @burner @Moon I was talking to a company guy flying the line at lunch and when I said most of Leykis’ callers were probably actors/interns/knowns he was blown away, was a total shock to him.

     Like, dude? People can’t be bothered to call a restaurant to find out the wait time, how would you have 50 ringing in to have an argument with a stranger? Gotta bait them in w/ actors first, then hope the topic riles them up enough to provide the needed activation energy

     @monsterislandcolonizer @olmitch @burner @Moon Yeah, but you have to get the ball rolling. The goal is to fill out the time w/ IRL callers but people require prodding and baiting in order to engage w/ you. That’s why you use your plants like a catalyst, an enzyme to accelerate the reaction

     i'm friends with a boomer who just discovered alternative news on the internet and he does nothing but listen to streams now and keeps telling me these revelations that i've known about for years and i just nod. if i had told them these things earlier (and i have) he would just get angry at me but when some person with a suit and good lighting and makeup and a CGI set says it it's true to him.

     It’s aggravating but I’m still waiting on a lot of the family to catch up. At least they’re on board w/ the race thing by and large. Still in that gay thing where they think “there’s tons of great black people”, but when you’re the rich people paying them, I get how easy it is to be conned by a coon looking for a good tip
