@ForbiddenDreamer For what purpose would they utilize silver?

They also self-discharge, not good for a missile that has to just werk. And do you have any idea how difficult it is to change a design for military hardware?

So, why does it have to be silver?
-
@ForbiddenDreamer Why is that required though?
-
@ForbiddenDreamer Every battery self discharges to some extent. And yeah, maybe it's difficult to change the design, but so what? Is the US hemmoraging cruise missiles at this point? Do you really think they won't just buy the silver if they are?
-
@FUCKINGWHOCARESDUDE The OP is solely about them buying silver?
-
@FUCKINGWHOCARESDUDE @ForbiddenDreamer well there's a lot more paper silver on the market than physical so if someone starts buying physical silver by the train car load, that may have consequences
increasing the cost of a tomahawk missile by 1% or so probably is not that big a deal on its own
-
@ForbiddenDreamer And? Since when has things being expensive been an impediment to government projects?
-
@deprecated_ii @FUCKINGWHOCARESDUDE Silver going up a few hundred percent wouldn't be enough to stop tomahawk production on a cost basis, however, they'll have political and economic reasons not to drive silver up that much. They may be able to get by purchasing silver as needed, however they intend to increase tomahawk production six-fold (not to mention all their other munitions that use silver). There's also no way they'll be able to replenish their stockpile without jacking the economy.
