@amigalove ive said it many many times but the future is FPGA .. the supply of old original silicon is drying up .. I can see a future where many of the original MOS chips have FPGA replacements.. tangentially this is also why I embrace FPGA as a legitimate alternative to original silicon, its hardware, this is the future.
PLA (Several different ones, including the 64Cs Super PLA) SID (Several, IE ARMSID, FPGA SID, BackSID, etc) VIC-II (Kawari) CIA (J-CIA64) ROM's (EPROMs, Etc) RAM (SRAM Modules and abundant replacements for original ICs) 8701 Clock chip (Several replacements) 6510 CPU (There is an adapter to add missing features to a plugged in 6502)
@ericgus@amigalove It’s such a shame that the original schematics for all these chips aren’t available and free. :( FPGA or something else, this is our history and I feel any commercial aspects have played out their part at this point. Having perfect copies would be such a great thing, and having these close to perfect ones are also fantastic!
