@Shadowman311 I hate how everyone here will undoubtedly say “who cares 4chan sucks, it’s pointless anyways“ without realizing it was a very useful feeder into our politics. It’s just ANOTHER battlefield we look at, shrug, and retreat from while our enemies own it.
4chan remains an important front because it’s THE ‘dark web site’ for dumb normies to go to when they want to see forbidden takes. For a 13 boy raised by a stripper, it’s the only starting point he has that could possibly lead him here.
Throwing away 4chan means he’ll be suckered into “never touch white women they’re all whores if you DO wanna have kids the ONLY way to do it is tate style by getting rich dropshipping chinese fleshlights and makeup, then importing a plow-toothed filipina to breed dysgienic 5’1 brownoids with“
That’s why I salute the poasters still fighting the good fight on 4chan. Most of it is garbage, the collected effluvia of a thousand intel agencies, NGO’s, and jewish ‘charities’, but there are still good dudes smacking down the zoglings when it counts.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@Shadowman311 >For a 13 boy raised by a stripper, it’s the only starting point he has that could possibly lead him here.
I doubt that sort of kid goes to 4chan for politics, lad.
Imageboards only go so far with the dissemination of information. It's the quality of discussion that maintains any sort of staying power. If you have a 1000 retards who just shout memes/phrases and only a handful of intelligent posters who actually have something to contribute, the impact from the latter demographic diminishes with time and people eventually move onto more productive forums. What also kills imageboards are arbitrary and heavy handed bans from powertripping moderators. I've had decent threads get deleted and users banned while absolute retards flood a topic uninterrupted.
8chan slowly but surely died after Gamergate wrapped up in 2016, and many other imageboards suffered similar fates.
@TheEternalBungholio@WashedOutGundamPilot@Shadowman311 8ch was nearly killed by Christchurch, but despite all the pressure from journo and fed shills, the threads on /pol/ about Tarrant was still ongoing and quality threads/discussions was preserved. But El Paso was final nail in the 8ch coffin and first cloudfare disabled whole website and later the admin cucked to them and agreed to "remove all nazis from the site" and rebrand it as "maga boomers only".
After this there was famous "imageboard federadion" event, when many 8ch refuges are starting to create smaller chan's to fill the void. But many of these boards are went offline or lost, maybe because anons are just simply burned out of it and abandoned internet completely in favor of IRL activities. One of few good imageboards from this federation was Neinchan, which contributed by creating "blue the jew meme" and compiling the list of synagogues who supported blm in 2020 chimpout. But it was destroyed internally by drama with their satanist admin, who betrayed his userbase and collaborated with feds.
The few reaming quality imageboards who's still online and contribute to internet culture is soyjack.party (all chud vs tranny memes are their works) and zzzchan.xyz (which has good /v/ board and regularly hosting online game parties with anons). Also the /fascist/ board (which is /pol/ but for smart ones) are established their final bunker on zzzchan as well and you can find them here.
I think the most important factor in 8chan's death is this, that the NZ shooting and the low effort copycat along with Fred's mix of a hate boner and trying to starfuck furries and journalists was the final nail in the coffin of years and years of shit. Remember Bui? Remember how Hotwheels/Fred handled /hebe/ and the like? Remember the failed rewrite? Remember how after the failed rewrite the solution was to use the old jank codebase? But most importantly, there's the massive amount of fragmentation afterwards because nobody had single plan B.
I think the one thing people have learned from the fall of 8chan and the failure of webrings is how to actually avoid a similar situation. At least one high profile fedi instance in this side of the web post-Poast has gone down and the community made new instances fast.
@voronesh234@WashedOutGundamPilot@Shadowman311 Honestly, 8ch's userbase kinda became schizo and unhinged after Gamergate. Josh taking over the site and breaking it (remember that many active hobby boards became inaccessible during his stupid attempt at converting 8ch into InfinityNext) scattered much of the userbase, and Kampfy got very heavy handed on /pol/ with bumplocking threads and encouraging the worst sort of schizoposting on 8ch.
At this rate, the imageboard I miss most is Krautchan. That was the imageboard that invented the serious discussion. Even the shitposting threads required a higher level of thinking.
