   Is self-employment/entrepreneurship really the only way for #ActuallyAutistic folks? (Thread)

   I’m 22, recent graduate (BSc in Chemistry) in a foreign country (#Australia), and unlike the vocal majority of #neurodivergent folks, don’t really feel like I have a special interest I can monetise on. I just want to clock in, clock out, spend my salary on little treats.

     I’ve interviewed a few times for interest-adjacent jobs and got turned down. Once I flew so close to the sun I actually interviewed for my dream job - a cosmetic chemist role. And still I was turned down due to my lack of experience and the employer had a time constraint in training a new employee.

     Applying for jobs has been the bane of my existence since I started having deadlines on how long I can stay in a country that isn’t mine. Some applications take days to fill. Some are QuickApply.

     Some other were in the middle of the two, but I wouldn’t even get a face to face interview but rather, I had to record my responses live from my webcam. It was demoralising.

     I’m running out of time and options, since *gestures to the current state of the economy*. Help?

     @busycrying it's really tough. I'm also applying for jobs. The fact everyone wants experience means you feel forced to work for free somewhere just to get that. Or share work on social media as an entrepreneur, which is the same thing I guess.
