Gin (ginnig@bae.st)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Aug-2023 09:28:56 JST Gin Guys, Gun Question: I want a compact edc conceal carry pistol, but not a glock. What should I look for? -

I usually advice guys to err on the smaller, more compact end of the double stack 9 side because they’ll actually carry it when they need it, but other than that it’s all roughly equivalent.

Gin (ginnig@bae.st)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Aug-2023 09:53:52 JST Gin @WashedOutGundamPilot I've been thinking about something I heard on one of the guntoober channels about having standard barrel length w/ a shorter grip. Which seems the most practicable, but then my desire for metal framed stylish guns comes to poke its dick through that
The new Kel-Tec p15 seems to fit that idea from what I hear (and I like kel-tec, can't tell you why just think they're cool) -
Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Aug-2023 09:53:52 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @GinNig Do you want to carry it? Then get something small enough that you’ll ACTUALLY carry it.
Every stupid fuck I’ve ever told this to wants more firepower, then buys a more full size gun….and never has it with him when I see him.
Only known one or two guys with the commitment to actually pack a full size 1911 on their hip every day, and they were old as shit. W/ dumbass gym shorts and tight-fitting clothes nobody is bringing their glock 19 around when they don’t plan on fighting….and they wouldn’t leave the house if they planned on fighting.
Once you have a carry gun set up, then you can buy the fun tactical shit. Just get something you’ll have when you need it first, above all else, because it’s better than nothing and the 2 or 4 inch loss of barrel length is worth actually having it in your gun instead of leaving it at home because the long ass 6” bbl always makes it pop out of your holster when you sit

Gin (ginnig@bae.st)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Aug-2023 09:59:12 JST Gin @WashedOutGundamPilot I giggle at the fact you're basically just telling me to train with my P11 more. The thing literally has a belt clip accessory for carry

I still have my PF9 in use in my mtb kit, light enough not to dent my bike frame. Not exactly a frontliner for me, but serves its niche

Still very sound philosophy in choosing the right tool for the job, but you have to define the job first. You got the smol light carry pistol checked off, so maybe a bigger pistol IS necessary, if you have a plan for it. I use them for car guns (just know your concealment laws inside the cab, they really frown on secret compartments) or plane guns when I need them light & compact

GabeLakmann (gabelakmann@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Aug-2023 10:44:39 JST GabeLakmann Kel Tec is innovative but I wouldn't trust my life to anything they make until I tested it out thoroughly because they can be hit or miss.
The PF9 was decent but it's way snappier than a G43, not to mention way fewer holster options.
You can conceal Glock 19 sized pieces pretty easily since it isn't the thickness of them that matters, it is the length of the grip.
You want something you can get a good, full grip on but not much longer if you can help it. -

Somehow it’s only the frumpy gun autists dressed like cops who ever actually carry it. If that’s your dress & style then sure, but guys w/ slim-fit medium shirts and a gym routine? Doesn’t happen so much.
All I demand is realism from people, everyone loves to pretend we carry our 10 out of 10 gunfighting rig every time we leave the house, but when it’s small town america and you gotta go walk the dog in your basketball shorts you think “eh, what’s the worst that could happen“ and go without
