@pavo @darnell @markusl outward account migration is one of the things the CEO of Instagram has mentioned a few times in interviews, so I would expect it.
It goes with my theory that this is about avoiding monopoly legal troubles.

@markusl No, there would be no “lock in” with #Threads. #Meta will allow people to export their accounts elsewhere, although currently #Calckey (whose name is changing) would realistically be the only platform that could import the data from other #Fediverse accounts.
But by allowing an open door, people will probably not feel the need to ever leave, as they would always have a “plan B.”

@darnell So #Zuck is being open about his strategy: lock people in using network effects and then enshittify #MetaThreads using adverts. Well, people can't say they haven't been warned.
