It isn't that I have a problem with a notification area or visual indicator. I mainly just think that the interruption and demand for attention when you have audible notifications enabled can really be a huge distraction. Most events you will receive notifications for rarely demand immediate attention, but my attention has been interrupted to let me know I received an email I don't even need to reply to. I think having a notification the next time you look at the phone is fine (although it can still be abusive if you can't dismiss them [Tmobile recently wanted to let me know they sell games on the store for weeks] or they reappear too frequently). -

I am currently writing an app that includes notifications, but the notifications are initiated by the user. Just got that working yesterday.
In Android 13, I have to ask the user for permission and wait for a yes before I can send anything from my app. They have restricted that stuff quite a bit.
