no, he's not. his choices directly caused the deaths of >50 people, because he's too much of a weak coward to kill when it's necessary. too much of a coward to judge hate japan
@eee the protagonist of "Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mob" does this as well, letting a guy live who ordered his sister to plant a bomb in his mech, intended to kill him. then when he interrupts a full-scale military invasion he secures all the enemies without killing them while those enemies are actively trying to kill him and his entire class on a civilian ship. here the author says "amazingly, nobody died! no hard feelings, haha! and these enemies will be useful later!" while ignoring that such people definitely have a body count already. and this is supposed to be an anti-hero? He's just a bit rude when he talks.
But, I really only mind it in this story because it reminds me of the JP trope where it's often much worse. By the time the Otome World protagonist is sparing everyone unnecessarily, he's fairly OP, with the author not doing the really annoying thing of raising drama levels with the enemy's evil actions only to never punishing those actions. *That's* where you get >I've tried to kill you several times >I've erased your sister's memory of you. You're strangers now, haha! >I've taken your girlfriend as my wife and brainwashed her into loving me. We have a child now. >yes please spare me :) I will reflect on my actions :)
@eee@apropos@MeBigbrain@deprecated_ii I remember reading the wn version of it once, getting to like 110 chaps and thinking it was okay, then checking in 4 years later to find it had….118 chaps published
