     @Zerglingman I like when translators leave notes like this, it adds to my reading experience
     
     I don't want them to "localize" too much but I appreciate sidebar explanations of local references, puns, and other stuff I'm not going to get as a simple weeb

     @deprecated_ii @Zerglingman Before oshi no ko got an official translation the fan group included a page at the end of every chapter with some cultural insight it was always really interesting to read. The official one has been a lot lamer in comparison.

     @deprecated_ii @Zerglingman I remember where in the official translation to Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, the person who was translating it outright put down, “okay, at this point, I have no fucking idea what’s going on. I’m doing my best. I’m just translating it directly. If anyone could explain to me what the hell is going on, please write me a letter.”

     It's actually why I backed the Full Armor Edition of Convictor Drive. It comes with translation notes.

     @Tsuki @deprecated_ii @Zerglingman I appreciate Everyday Heroes Scans. They usually include a minimum of one page appendix for every chapter they put out explaining the more esoteric references and cultural context for the manga they are translating. Their appendices for Golden Kamuy are crucial for understanding a lot of the more subtle humor.
