@coolboymew I wish I could get L4D2 to work on my machine. Something about my Linux setup just makes it impossible. Maybe its openGL. Maybe its Nvidia.

@StoleMyThundersBalls Huh? How. Have you tried forcing the Windows ver if the Linux ver doesn't play ball?
-
@coolboymew @StoleMyThundersBalls proton is unironically good now
-
@graf @StoleMyThundersBalls Proton has been pretty great for the past 2 years at least, on top of that we have the Glorious Eggroll branch too
But yeah, hilariously, if the Linux native ver doesn't play ball, the Windows ver with Proton will pretty much work

@coolboymew @StoleMyThundersBalls @graf if linux version doesn't work try setting compatibility to "Linux Runtime"
-
@ducky @StoleMyThundersBalls @graf You can just literally game on Linux instead of streaming it locally

I’m putting together a windows gaming box finally so I can just use the steam play thing at my Linux machine. It makes me sad, but I know all my games should work perfect and I won’t need to touch windows unless it’s necessary.
Just trying to decide if I want windows 10 or 11 at this point. I’m thinking 10. 7 would be good if support wasn’t beginning to drop off.

I have found to be correct in most cases. For me, I still use windows in a vm for my 3D modeling and a couple weird old pieces of software. I’ve never had luck with wine for those. It makes sense for me to have a windows box for those situations. That way, I can do steam play and something like just teamviewer or a foss Remote Desktop app

@ducky @StoleMyThundersBalls @graf Oh no way, for Adobe, Autodesk and those insane programs that takes like 70% of your system ressources, there's no way the latest ver will work properly
For the latest games however? A lot of them just kinda works or has quick fixes and workarounds
