      Seriously we could have integrated bone conduction headset/mp3 players with SD card, local storage, and hell, even shitty bluetooth if you really want it, plus media server via bluetooth so you can still do playlist shit from your pocket computer.

      @nugger @Zerglingman My fave part about the “hi res bluetooth audio” is how it got rid of my unlimited power, unlimited signal, instant-off cable and replace it with somthing that does intermittent signal dropouts nobody seems to believe can happen.

      Just remove pocket computer from the equation entirely.
      Also don't make the thing shut down to charge. That's retarded. You can cite all the safety concerns you want but I'm gonna call it bullshit because we can already do it; the headset I use on my PC does it just fine.

      But yeah, bluetooth sucks massive ass. Destroy bluetooth. That's why I propose only using it to do playlist stuff - who cares how shit it is when you only have it turned on once every hour or two, tops.

      @nugger @Zerglingman I just use a wireless radio headset. I can wear one of these, tower in the garage, and be working in the garden 200 feet away and still get a signal. All for 30 bucks. No bluetuna bullshit.

      @Zerglingman @nugger I've had mystery smoke from a small battery powered device I used while charging. The machine spirit left it and it was kill. Thankfully not in my ear. They have to use a separate circuit that costs another few cents to put passthrough power via charge port whole remaining current goes to battery. I switched down to tiny $20 JLab go pop earbuds. Case is small and has a charging cable built in. Good noise isolation seal making them functionally ear plugs. Mediocre sound but acceptable for audio books and such.

      Actually, tbh, what I'd rather is just have two removable batteries in it with an autoswitch (and notice it has occurred).
      Then just pop the dead battery for charge, socket a full one, continue.

      And that's why pogo isn't really a successor. Granted they did actually add some teamplay stuff, like a year and a half after they locked me out of it (safetynet).
      And anyway, Ingress falls flat pretty fast whenever shards get involved. Really great idea that never once worked correctly.

      @neopolitan @nugger @BowsacNoodle Anyway, on the topic of GPS gaming, there was a game called Geo Empires which was really ingenious:
      - world is split into tiles (about 20m*20m each)
      - moving around in a tile generates influence there (up to a cap of, IIRC, 100)
      - influence can be spent, at any time/place, to reduce the tile owner's influence, if it hits 0 you capture it, whatever influence you have left is its new value (still capped at 100, still can generate it by moving there)
      - Collect taxes on owned tiles (from afar) to buy defence to mitigate attacks
      - Can also pick up money crates in ~250m radius, random spawns

      The genius part being that you go out, play some other GPS game with this running in the background, then go home and do all your attacks/payments/etc.

      lol, lmao

      So I'm interested in making this again but fixing that. And maybe doing other stuff to it, but honestly it was pretty good as it was. Like you could make tribes so you could all cooperate on beating on a highly defended tile, so it would self-correct well enough.

      @Zerglingman @nugger This review is worth a skim. 8 hour claimed on buds + a few charges on case, and I've never noticed them die on me although I'm not listening for 8 hours straight. I easily misplaced the case because it's so small. They actually stay in my ear. They're cheap enough that you can buy two pairs+ and have functionally infinite charge.
