This is her second attempt this year to raise some babies. Last time she had too many eggs and couldn't bring them to term. This time she did much better. -

I used to have 3 of the mallards but 2 of them got taken by predators a couple winters ago. She had actually flown out of the yard and we thought she was lost too, but a neighbor found her wandering around down the street a few months later and brought her back. She's never tried to leave the yard since, but she is not constrained by our chicken fencing because she's pretty small and can fly quite well so she kind of wanders around wherever she wants.
