@mushroom_soup Seeing stuff like this gives me motivation to keep working on my own game, if for nothing else then for sheer spite towards such cowardice, degeneracy, and nigger worship.
@Zerglingman@mushroom_soup I really like perspective shifts, like in Prototype, or Spider-man games, where you walk around people and the leap and zoom around buildings.
So I'm working on a 1st person post-apocalyptic Metroidvania style game, where you play an android or something (might change it to Aryan man, emperor of mankind style ultra-chad just out of spite), and collect powerups as you travel around the map, in order to repair some facility and bring back life to the wasteland.
In terms of aesthetics, I'm going for a low poly (because single dev) post apocalyptic look, with Chrono Trigger's desolate future being the general direction. image.png
@rlier23@mushroom_soup Always have a vidya backlog. ALWAYS. Don't want modern poz in your vidya? There are plenty of old games that are still worth your time rather than AAA trash.
@diresock@Zerglingman@mushroom_soup Good luck with game. If you need low poly models (for placeholder sake or to modify them and include in game later) you can ask me. I pirated nearly 90% of Polygon packs by Synthy Studios (they made game-ready packs for unity and unreal) and can share them for free. Here is their website and you can check what i'm talking about. syntystore.com/
I went over the assets, and can't really find something that fits the aesthetic I have in my head :/ When I say low-poly I mean something more realistic but lower quality, like PS1 or something. (attached a Pegasus I modeled after the horse from Little Big Adventure)
Also it's a bit early for even place holders. Much of the game will be movement, so it's all about the player controller for a while.
There will be some combat as well, but a small amount. And I want it to be dark, bordering on horror, but not really. Grim.
I have a bunch of projects that I started and abandoned, mostly because I didn't have a vision for where I was going. This time around, I actually know what the destination is, and all I'm missing is enough motivation to actually do it.
@diresock@mushroom_soup@GhostTown Also the more you talk about this the more it sounds like exactly the sort of game I enjoy. Like, I really wish Mirror's Edge had a sequel, or that Lemma ran under wine.
@diresock@mushroom_soup@GhostTown There's an MMO called Aion, which talks big about how you get to fly around freely. So of course I played it. First off, it tells you to wait until level 10 to get wings and start flying. So I ground my way up to level 10. It was pretty boring. Then I got to the new city where I could get wings, did that, and... You're not allowed to fly in the city zone. /uninstall
@diresock@mushroom_soup@GhostTown >Flyff >Game all about flying >So obviously you should have various different systems of flight, right? >Mechanically different, even >lol, lmao >0 wings
@gucciloafers@Punished_Potatus@mushroom_soup >how would you feel if your wife was still alive >but my wife is dead >but how would you feel if she wrote you a letter >but she is dead
@veff@mushroom_soup It seems they're only trying to get back into making games because the gambling sector is drying up, but all of the people who made their best games are gone now so they're farming it out to pozzed studios in eastern Europe in this case.
@gucciloafers@mushroom_soup yeah yeah, I’ve known they would rot anything they touched, but I never even looked at any of the silent hill games past shattered memories, so I don’t know to what extent they would trash it more than they already have. Figures this is the next logical place for them to go after pochinko machines
@mushroom_soup god FUCKING dammit, not silent hill 😫 After seeing the resident evil remakes I was somehow tricked into thinking they wouldn’t immediately fuck this up, but I guess I should have learned my lesson with the past decade of game development. Fuck.
At least I take solace that, if this splash screen is correct, they haven’t turned eddy into a baboon or something.
