We must change almost everything in our current societies The bigger your carbon footprint-the bigger your moral duty The bigger your platform-the bigger your responsibility Adults keep saying: 'We owe it to the young people to given them hope.' But I don't want your hope I don't want you to be hopeful I want you to panic I want you to feel the fear I feel every day And then I want you to act I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on Fire Because it is
@mike805@CheRosach I don't know if we "can't" feed the world without them, but it definitely takes some changes to how we do things. Cutting access prematurely could be devastating.
I also have a very strong suspicion that our problem isn't burning things, but concentrated use of resources (and generation of waste) due to a preference for highly centralized systems.
@CheRosach Just remember that your food comes from fossil fuels. If you don't want to starve, you had better figure that problem out before you "just get rid of fossil fuels" as some are arguing for. We cannot feed the world without them.
If things are as bad as the doomers say they are, all we can do is adapt. The Chinese and others may well decide to just grab as much arable land as possible for themselves, if they think it will be in short supply. And war has a hell of a carbon footprint.
@ringo@mike805@CheRosach I'll say that my own personal observation suggests climate is changing, but I am unconvinced of our impact. That said I still think we pollute more than is necessary, and I believe a large part of that is excused away to keep the money flowing. I don't think the solutions offered actually address the problem. Instead they move the pollution somewhere out of view.
Also I believe volcanoes can explain some of the numbers people use to anthropomorphize climate change.
a volcano farts out more c02 than the entire world can use in literally years in a single eruption, which has happened a few times over in the last 18 months, in various places.
the global warming thing, is a myth.. all in all. 100% a boogey man the elite tools use to attempt to pass all manner of draconian lockstep stuff thinking nobody really notices...
the climate is changing, but its in Gods hands. we're not clever enough to outsmart his almighty hand. I mean, he made this place.....and his angels and elect run the day to day operations.
its majesty far outweighs what peoples wildest imaginations are capable of.
and btw, the hydrological cycle isnt possible unless we have an enclosed atmosphere. :)
all these "numbers" are just like any other stat... you bend them you ignore others, etc. statistics is the fine art of lying, much like marketing.. you measure, but only in ways in this kind of case that please the scientists that are paying your grants.... (or govts.)
watch this clip from the CEO of the weather channel on CNN Live. he sums it up nicely. much faster than william happer, who's rather long winded and uses too many acetate projections...
@ringo@mike805@CheRosach I don't think you need an enclosed atmosphere for the hydrological cycle, but yes I agree statistics can be and often are used to support falsehood. I remember that clip it's pretty funny the way he owns the conversation.
@mike805@ringo@thatguyoverthere the first research was in 1938 and the evidence for climate change has grown since then. The oil companies funded a lot of it in the 1970’s then suppressed it. I wonder if it is the fear of the consequences of climate change in those who deny it that enables them to pretend it is all a conspiracy
97% of climate scientists ONLY HAVE A JOB because of people's fear of global warming. The field was small and obscure before this thing.
Now these weather nerds have become rock stars. People look up to them as heroes saving the world.
Having become a rock star, you DO NOT want to go back to being a weather nerd! So you are not going to question the consensus that got you that status.
@ringo@mike805@thatguyoverthere he is not a climate scientist and he does not say that global warming is not happening only that he does not think it is caused by human activity
