   I think the reason people will watch 3-5 hour long politicasts or livestreams is because they have a dopamine addiction to hearing opinions they agree with. It is cathartic to hear people agree with you constantly

     remember that all other forms of entertainment have been destroyed.
     music, movies, tv, books.
     all of it is gay and jewish these days.
     so best most people have is some braindead videogame, while they have a podpast running in the backround.
     same reason why vtubers are so popular these days.

     @Wilhelm_Apologist Background noise is the biggest reason. People live alone more than ever before, having pre-recorded jabber in the background simulates the experience of living with a family/community.

     The fact they have to listen to things they agree with is more a function of them wanting to have something they can passively listen to without getting their blood pressure up. It’s aggravating to have someone spouting off retarded takes, because you start wargaming out the debate in your head.

     Of course, we wouldn’t need that to be a consideration w/ apolitical media. But every aspect of life is a front in the war on righteousness, so there’s no escape.

     @Wilhelm_Apologist You’re right about passive listening for a subset of people, most millennials/zoomers on the non-NPC region of the IQ curve are more willing to engage in active listening. I work with guys like that often enough, they want actual stimulation and a ‘dummy’ conversation to engage in.

     Just not as common, most of the time we’re doing the same thing our parents do when they come home and reflexively turn on the television: Making our brain feel like it’s coming home to a full community

     Just let the noggin idle for a while. I feel a lot happier that way usually
