I've played with a few smokers, including a pellet jobbie, but with little to no hardwood available where I live, the charcoal Weber is the one for me. I may, at some point this year, attempt to use The Phoenix as a smoker, building a wall of firebricks between the coals and the meat.

I've never used a pellet smoker but there is no shortage of hardwood around me. My own yard is a great source of maple, and I've been planting a lot of fruit trees so in a few years I can start to use my own apple, plum, or even pecan. -
