     He was literally being canceled by the Stephanie Miller types, I remember her or Randi Rhodes or one of those trashy hackers shitting on him for not being a proud (D) voter and I heard some of the earliest "you're either with us or with a party that oppresses you" chants there (my parents listened to that crap lmao).

     Looking back Bruce coming out was a wedge. The establishment hated his political views not being pure (D) but they saw him as a useful tool in the toolbox.
