   I default to pointing people to discord, if I pointed people to matrix, most wouldn't join - how could I have known you wouldn't want to join the discord?

   I'd say there's bigger problems in foss than pointing people to a discord server, ones your energy could be used better for

     The "discoverability" of a Discord community is only perceived to be better because _you're already on it_ and you keep promoting it, while not even hinting at the options of using more user friendly platforms. This is an issue that is created, and made worse by your own actions.the fact that many people wanting help won't know or care what matrix or irc is?They don't need to know what protocol is used under the hood. Just put a link somewhere, it opens a tab, they can chat. The vast majority of open online chat rooms back in the day was IRC, very few people knew it was IRC they were using. It doesn't matter. Stop trying to make up non-issues as excuses to promote proprietary software.doesn't seem like someone wanting to promote proprietary software would do thatYet here you are, in this very thread, not even suggesting open options until you're explicitly told that an open option is preferred.

     I asked the dev a lot to make a matrix channel and he did, before there was only the discord server, doesn't seem like someone wanting to promote proprietary software would do that
