@mimorinka Ah, direct translations are always awkward to hear. We kind of have the opposite problem where the translators seem to think they're improving the script by adding recent memes, current fads, and so on to their dubs. One of the worst cases I've seen is translating onee-sama as "sissy" in a Certain Scientific Railgun and citing 1920s slang as a justification

yes because mostly voice actors just reading their part which just directly translated even idioms, I can barely guess that what it saying originally from poor Japanese dub but so uncomfortable

@mimorinka I'm curious, do you dislike Japanese dubs of English content because it sounds unnatural? I think the main reason I generally dislike dubs is the dialogue is almost necessarily translated in an awkward way to match the lip flaps, but this could just be a personal gripe
