   Looks like publicly available AI/ML models are catching up with locked down solutions. While FAGMAN engineers spent their work hours trying to filter badspeak, a bunch of neckbeards optimized the leaked breadcrumbs for their personal purposes. Now if only GPU manufacturers weren't jewing out on VRAM.

     @Floyvid_Ninesneed They already do that, intentionally or not. 24 GB 3090 is probably the best card one could lay their hands on without sacrificing more than one kidney.

     What if competitors came out with AI accelerator cards, completely gutting the GPU bloat and focused on AI tasks.
     
     Nvidia shares would get raped if you could use a drop in replacement. I think AMD/ intel are working on a CUDA compatibility thing also.

     @MMS21 @Floyvid_Ninesneed Yeah, ROCm. They don't intend you to use it on anything but their enterprise solutions which no one buys anyway since Nvidia has a chokehold on a market. Due to that, its support on general-purpose cards is still faulty from model to model. At this point I think they have some backstage agreement of sorts.

     @PurpCat @Floyvid_Ninesneed Apparently, there are some developments in porting ROCm to Wangblows as well, which might've increased the adoption if they ever bothered supporting more than a couple of the same obscure enterprise GPUs.

     @mint @Floyvid_Ninesneed Intel talked about stable diffusion on their cards too. Right now Intel is doing everything to sell arc from that to price cuts to running a community discord.

     @mint @Floyvid_Ninesneed I still need to decide if I'm going to house my Ryzen in its current case or one with more HDD bays (some Silverstone I've wasted with a retro build I'll likely do that and clean it out one of these weekends) but I have messed with an Intel Arc a750 on it. It runs games really well.
