@WashedOutGundamPilot Show me the enslaved mothers and children in the Original trilogy, the ethnocidal ambitions of private enterprises, or the non-military-targets getting clapped.
People forget Alderaan was a rebel outpost. It was complicit with the betrayal of the Empire. it was everything every villain supposed about it. Leia telling them it’s a peaceful world is literally a barefaced lie. Alderaan was not a Waco or a Ruby Ridge, Alderaan was a response to a covert operation directly intending to destroy a military facility hosting like a billion construction workers & janitors, lmao. Luke has fond enough feelings for the empire in the start of the film that he wants to go and be a fucking TIE pilot. It only changes because his aunt and uncle buy stolen goods from a race of thieving midgets and probably weren’t anymore honest about the facts than they were with Luke (endlessly leading him on, sabotaging his independence and ambition, refusing to tell him the truth, being needlessly cruel about facts every boy needs to know about his father)
Star Wars’ OT isn’t about heroes fighting the empire. It’s a terrorist, a drug smuggler, a violent psychotic carpet, and a child abducting sorcerer (who ruined the last young man he had influence on with neglect,) all influencing a lost young man trying to do the right thing into participating in their terrorist activities. The rebels aren’t the heroes, except that they’re protagonists.
