Palpatine respects Luke as a person more than a Jedi EVER has respected a Skywalker. Ruler of the galaxy, master of the force, able to kill with a gesture and create life from scratch, but he would have Your Consent. Enthusiastically given. He would be your leader of your own choices, when he told you he loved democracy, he meant it. More than anyone in the republic ever had.
