@teknomunk@Red_Hat@alex Their business work on individuals pirating their shit because they're locked into it by experience. Those people don't understand concepts of how image manipulation works they just know click this shiny button would do this or that.
And those same people would work for companies which can be sued for various things. And they can't change to another software because they don't know the different software.
Its a threat for corporate customers; I'd love to know how much they're willing to spend bringing individuals to court - "But your honor, they just won't upgrade!"
@colinsmatt11@teknomunk@Red_Hat@alex The funniest thing is that if you read the article, this isn't even an Adobe issue, they sent an email warning to customers that their (Adobe's) proprietary paid royalties for third party technologies used in old versions of Adobe software suite expired and those could face lawsuits by the third parties that own these technologies. It's a cancer inside another cancer, like a matroska of nonfree software legal bullshit.
suppose you bought a movie that was produced with licensed technology. the people who made the movie have their license expire. can you be sued for watching the movie you bought?
I've heard this is why you will never see old game engines go FOSS anymore, because unless the dev had a 5 year plan to do this there's licensed shit upon licensed shit in them.
