@BigDuck Okay but neither of them will be remembered in 150 years without having children and a family

Honing yourself and striving to attain a hypothetical peak of self without ever creating and nurturing souls of others is just a more ascetic form of selfishness. Looking outward is good, and healthy, and can attain a high standard on its own, but it ultimately falls short - not to mention the external part is often the part many slack on. Charity for others is much harder to foster than all the solo stuff you can do in a vacuum.
If you follow that pan-Eastern school of thought then that’s your heritage, your way of life and your highest attainment. Our disagreement isn’t so much ideological but racial. No point trying to bridge it, nobody will move from their side anyways.
My kind lives for our family, it’s the cornerstone of existence, an instinct strengthened and fortified in us from generations of harsh living where only our own could be counted on for survival and happiness.
If your people have some other spiritual belief then that’s your business, I wouldn’t mean for any of my takes to come off as preaching to you. We each have our own spiritual lineage to follow, distinct and separate. Neither of us has reached the height needed to become a spiritual fulcrum and alter generations of belief just yet, it’s our lot to stay the course.

It's not really fair to call this an east vs west thing, Indian and East Asian traditions also have householder-oriented lineages luithe likes this. -

Wolfgirl in Wheatfield (wgiwf@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 03-May-2023 06:42:20 JST Wolfgirl in Wheatfield @snailenthusiast @BigDuck @WashedOutGundamPilot @urchin Asceticism and celibacy have been a spiritual tradition of Christianity since the beginning, monasticism soon after as well. The millions who have been given the gifts of the spirit that allows that life do not have any less of a fulfilling life than those who don't have it. This seems more like the split between Prots and Catholic/Orthodox than a racial thing. -

That’s partly why I’m so ambivalent towards it. Not many ortho folk as far back as I recall, surprisingly light on that front.. To my knowledge we never had a single member go to a convent, nobody join the priesthood either. It was all family men or guys who died young.
That’s why I’m kinda deterministic on it. The more I learned about the furthest branches in our tree, the more I saw myself in them. The more of my family I meet, the more I understand how little of me is the result of ‘nurture’. I would be a lot of us are the same, judging from how easy it is to see the commonalities in other races.
