     @ForbiddenDreamer Really hurts to see this same thing play out online after years of seeing washed-up strippers and party THOTS go back home to their parent’s church to guilt good guys into playing house with them. The boomers LOVE a prodigal, and when it’s not their house and life on the line they have no problem with taking the gamble with yours because “oh come on, she deserves a happy life after all that!”

     Sure, I like the repentant and all, it’s just hard to believe they’re all that genuine when I’ve seen it pass through in time. She gets her safe guy to give her shelter and build a family, but years later she gets ‘bored’ and looks back fondly on the thrill of hedonistic youth. Like a junkie, she starts heading back to those ways once again.

     Repentance contingent upon consequences is seldom lasting.

     @wgiwf @ForbiddenDreamer I had to say some very embarrassing things to maintain relationships at church because of this dynamic. One girl, a chick who left home right after HS to go be a “model”, wanted to get together to ‘catch up’. I think I told her I was super hung up on my ex and “not ready to date just yet”

     I probably blocked out the rest of it, I’m pretty sure I at one point used the “oh, she’s intimidating! I can barely talk to her, let alone go out on a date with her!”

     @mmmfeet @ForbiddenDreamer They always have this odd vibe about it too. They’ll squeeze your shoulder and present you like an offering, understanding that they themselves wouldn’t have married her at your age, but they would rather throw you over the train tracks than let her newfound change of heart go unrewarded.

     The naive ones don’t even know, though. They just think soandso’s daughter just moved back home after 10 years of bible study and daily toil at a career waiting for prince charming to sweep her off her feet.
