@coolboymew Hey, can't expect it to run that long. I mean, it only had....fucking 6 AA batteries
Yeah, AC adapter was an absolute necessity with that thing
- cool_boy_mew likes this.

@SavageGerbil @coolboymew
>approximately 3 to 5 hours
>for near state of the art graphics+gameplay
>backlit
so its just a switch or steam deck
-
@why @SavageGerbil it was kinda unacceptable back then
-
@coolboymew @SavageGerbil @why The original Game Boy had what, 20-40 hour battery life?
-
@ChristiJunior @SavageGerbil @why up to 30 according to google. Pocket 10 same for gbc
Can't find GBA data. 10 Sounds about right for DS/3DS
-
@coolboymew @SavageGerbil @why Nah, the 3DS had similar battery life to the original Switch (apparently the updated Switch model is a significant improvement, lasting like 5-7 hours), unless BOTH my regular 3DS and my 3DS XL were broken. And the DS wasn't that much better. The GBA was apparently around 15 hours tho.
-
@ChristiJunior @SavageGerbil @coolboymew @why The one huge advantage that the 3DS has but not the Switch is an easily replaceable battery (with a few screws). The Switch's battery requires more screws, some adhesive remover, and gentle prying.

Also back in the 90s battery technology was shittier. I saw some small YT channel did an experiment and found out with modern batteries a GG lasts longer than the original 3ds did (and the original 3ds was panned hard for the battery life).
-
When the 3ds came out everyone was shitting on the PSP/Vita level battery life. Nintendo handhelds were known for lasting long ass times (thanks to the dude who designed the GB focusing on that, see the Wonderswan and all).
There was that and the fact the 3ds launched with literally No Games (tm). It took a while for the big name games to drop.
-
@why @PhenomX6 @SavageGerbil @coolboymew On the plus side, the Ambassador Rewards were ridiculously generous by Nintendo standards, 10 GBA games and they're pretty much all absolute gems? I'm glad I got in on that thanks to buying the 3DS for OoT 3D.
-
@PhenomX6 @ChristiJunior @SavageGerbil @coolboymew 3ds launch was really a mess
>nogames
>no eshop
>$250
and those base models had that terrible glossy plastic too
-
@why @PhenomX6 @ChristiJunior @SavageGerbil
>not loving the absolutely lickable worthy glossy colored plastic
Bruh

@coolboymew @PhenomX6 @SavageGerbil @why I absolutely loved how the Aqua Blue 3DS looked. It was super disappointing how the Majora's Mask 3DS XL revealed a basic black and boring interior when you opened it up.
-
@ChristiJunior @PhenomX6 @SavageGerbil @why that's the one I had, Aqua Blue
-
i had one of those giant rechargeable bricks that attached to the bottom of it
