   I mean given that its Twitter that is behind Bluesky it would make sense for them to add features like that (to cater to normies) but in reality I just see it leading to the sort of situation we currently have on Fedi. One side deemed "dark fedi" that is largely blocked off by mastodon users with community driven block lists and the other side who doesn't know the other exists because their large/monolithic instance blocks half the fediverse by default

     The truth is, they're always going to keep dying/losing users for one reason: people on Mastodon/Bluesky are not banned from Twitter.

     Look at the Mastodon.social side of the fedi. They block assloads of people, only list instances on their site who block people, and are more banhappy than a overweight Twitch streamer.

     Believe me, I know about "the mastodon network" side of fedi. Full of people who aren't banned from Twitter with little to no reason to use Mastodon

     Exactly and that's why they always go back. Their internet artists and ecelebs and online friends who are too normie to use another site use it.
