     @VBurner Open up to your brothers, after you’ve been through some shit together. Bonding experiences lay the groundwork, eating some kind of shit together makes it so he doesn’t look at you and see a blubbering vag because he’s seen you carry on and do the needful already.

     Don’t go throwing this kind of stuff to women, they aren’t mentally equipped to deal with it, unanimously a mistake. Keep it to boys, and ones who have been proven to have your back.

     The fact we’ve had all our bonding experiences and team building infiltrated and subverted isn’t a mistake, either. Keeps more boys broken and gelded forever.

     And yeah, if I came down with a cancer diag tomorrow I’d bet my chick would disappear within a year. We don’t have kids together, she’s young enough, her biological programming would start pushing her to pull the eject lever and find another pet owner to care for her. Just the way it is, it hurts less if you understand it.

     @VBurner @DEERBLOOD There probably won’t be a woman who ever loves you like your mother. She made you, in her mind your flesh shows up as “ME” in her biological IFF.

     Don’t go looking for a mother in a woman, you’ll never find it. In a lot of ways, you shouldn’t need it either. If there was a shortfall of love as a kid, you probably can’t just make that up by wishing it into being. You’ll have to get it by giving it, and you’ll probably get most of it from your kids.

     Which is why we need to have our kids learn how effective and meaningful it is to do the tiniest shows of affection. People want love and intimacy but they never give it out. When’s the last time you had a heart to heart with your dad and told him thanks, or praised him in a real, lasting, tear-jerking way?

     @VBurner @DEERBLOOD Yeah man, and I don’t understand that impulse. It’s always grossed me out. That whole thing where you lay on her lap and act all needy is inherently, instinctively nasty to me. It’s something I’ve never wanted to do, no matter how much they complain about me not showing “intimacy”.

     Maybe that’s part of how I pulled more chicks than I’d expected to over the years. Speaks to an innate thing that women like

     @rlier23 @DEERBLOOD @VBurner from time to time I prod guys to do it on here, I can’t think of a single time somebody took me up on it.

     We all want people to be loving towards us but always feel it’s too awkward to be the initiator. The tiniest things mean the world to dads, too. They’re almost unanimously emotionally starved fro recognition.

     Even if you’re a fuck-up, telling him sorry and that your failures don’t reflect on him can mean a lot more to him than you’d expect.

     @KiKi88 It’s a cute sentiment, if nothing else. But reality is different from practice, and I’ve been hearing about how this turns out since I was 13. You like the idea in theory, but just like so many other women, it’s not something that’s under your control.

     You’ll have him sobbing and weeping into your chest as you think “wow, this is really gonna strengthen our relationship“…..but a week later you’ll start being grossed out by the tiniest things. The way he has to yell into the mic at the drive through. The pitch of his voice on the phone. The way he smiles when he meets a guy taller than him. The way he doesn’t stand up for you when your bitchy sister is picking on you at thanksgiving.

     Before you know it, some deep part in your brain has made it known: A vote of “No Confidence”. You won’t feel safe with him, you’ll feel grossed out, (‘the ick’, as they call that ineffable disgust now) and you’ll feel ready to replace him.

     The former isn’t something you can teach, and the latter makes sure she’ll like the life I make for us. Once they’re on their own for a long time they get set in their ways, and they (like us) rarely have the self awareness to realize they keep indulging in habits that make them miserable

     You want him to show joy when he has a nephew, sadness when his dog dies, lust when he sees you.
     You don't want him to show self-pity, rage, humiliation, despair, laziness, envy, resent, clinginess, etc.
     Some men are soyboys with emotional incontinence, and no one finds that attractive.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @rlier23 @DEERBLOOD @VBurner I know with my Dad, I pull him in on projects, like woodworking. I needed to built something, wanted to try out some new joinery, had him join in, and we had a blast. You'd be surprised how far you get with bonding even on a simple thing like "I want to tryout building a box from scratch" goes.

     @VBurner @DEERBLOOD @WashedOutGundamPilot my wife will tell me that she did everything and took care of me while I was sick but I didn't do shit for her when she was sick, even though I went out of my way to get her favorite fresh soup to help her feel better and did all of the chores and errands while she was ill. I think women are just programmed to try to manipulate.

With proper communication and a good heart, it’s not really a thing. This just happens where there’s a backlog of irritation that she’s been leaving unaddressed, and she figures she might as well let it out while you’re already having a fight.

     I haven’t seen it in a while after dating better, kinder women w/ a moral code of some sort. Kindhearted ladies are the way to go.

     I've had it explained to me like this...A woman (any woman) keeps, in her mind, a record of every negative thing she can think of about you. Shameful things you've said and done, things she didn't approve of, or even just times when you were mostly okay but (she thought) you should have been stellar instead. It's like a database.
     
     At the right moment, usually during an argument or when she's trying to make you feel small, she lays it all out on a table in her mind, and she picks and chooses which things she thinks will damage you the most.
     
     A woman who can keep herself from acting that way is rare, but they do exist.
