I amnot advocating for socialism. it would be possible to achieve this through private means but america doesn't live up to its own standards and regulatory capture prevents a real free market solution.z

     @condret @mia America has given me a better quality of life than the average European, indeed the choices I made are rewarded better here in a lot of ways. But a minimum quality of life is not guaranteed and achieving it isn't equitable so I admit we could do a lot better.

     @mia @Moon cry about it, meanwhile i enjoy having legally guaranteed 20 days of paid vacation per year.
     Sure eu states have a lot of problems, but the amount problems the USA has is several magnitudes higher and the list keeps growing, as americans keep insisting on outdated and antiquated concepts. It's sad to watch you guys struggling so much with yourselves, especially as a german.

     @Moon but you have the worst rules when it comes to public drinking, age of consent (young people are allowed to join military befor they can fuck), cultural problems with sexuality in general, no public healthcare, no infinite paid sick days at work, weird laws when it comes to driving and a fucked up 2 party system

     @Moon @PhenomX6 @meso @mia Selective prosecution and jurisdiction shopping is the problem. The trial was in Brooklyn even though he was from New Hampshire and lived in West Palm Beach. He was going to get convicted in New York. I'd imagine the results would have been different if the trial was somewhere else.
