it has every single battle shounen troupe and they kept going with the creme puff gag, but it's fun enough. Probably around the same quality as Black Clover writing wise. Though Black Clover has more interesting concepts IMO. Granted I stopped keeping up with Mashle a couple years ago. Still a fun series nonetheless, though the content's bland enough that if the anime's not well paced it'll be a slog.
@VBurner I dropped the black clover anime. Unfortunately they tried to make it the age old infinite running thing and that meant fillers, but that wasn't the worst part, the worst part was it looking pretty terrible at times
@coolboymew The manga's art can be pretty stylistic at times so it's a shame that they went with such a dull general look for the anime.
It's funny to me how so many manga with good art get ugly adaptations, but manga with generally ugly art like Demon Slayer get really good adaptations.
@VBurner@coolboymew i stopped reading around chapter 80 iirc, i get the concept but it was done too slow because of success to milk that SWEET SWEET SHONEN YEN. it wouldve been great if the author had kept it short and to the point
@eee@coolboymew I dropped out around the start of a tournament arc I think, at least I'm pretty sure it was a tournament arc. I vaguely remember a fight in a coliseum.
@eee@coolboymew I've kind of checked out of anime and manga in general. The amount of popularity it's gotten in the west means it'll get more and more tailored to a western audience, so I figured it was better to check out instead of trying to rekindle my interest.
@VBurner@coolboymew battle manga/manhwa w/e that kept it interesting was solo leveling, the only longstrip that didn't make me vomit into my underoos there's solid world and character building, it's dangerous, the MC accomplishes with his own effort and team work it's all around good reading the mannerisms of his minions and their interactions is hilarious, they spring alive good author
@eee@coolboymew solo leveling was pretty good dropped it after a few years though.
Overgeared is good, but the Webnovel has wayy more content so I recommend reading that over the webcomic. Despite the title, The Gamer is pretty good. Chink stuff is worth a look, particularly Tales of Demons and Gods, the Soul Land series and Star Martial God Technique.
@VBurner@eee Not much of a reader for LNs, but I'm trying. I have Disciple of the Lich physical, and planning to read Nanana's buried treasures and Miniskirt Space Pirates (too lazy to fetch Japanese names). Two shows I've been immensely mad we never got anime sequels
@eee@coolboymew if you want good schlock just read everything popular on wuxiaworld then look it up on novelupdates or whereever you get webnovels these days.
@VBurner@eee@coolboymew I’ve kind of tapered off, all the ones I used to try and track have stalled out or sucked. I’m down to like 3 and I check in whenever I’m bored on a layover now, read the 2 updates that posted in the last month, and forget about it for the rest of the quarter.
