     I've been watching this entire time; they've already proven the vessel will tolerate the pressures and many of those engines have already been proven. If any fail during launch then it will rely on the redundancies and increase thrust to the other pucks... something like 34 engines on this stack.
     
     That all said. I hope it blows up on splash down. That would just be celebratory spaceX, but I want the proving flight to go off without an issue because getting the fuck away from niggers and jews requires space travel.

     based on the planned trajectory, we may get to see the higher altitude plume from where I'm at. Especially if it launches towards the evening.

     going to Venus would require more material science breakthroughs, specifically for analog computing. However I do want to say if it's anywhere we should terraform, it's Venus. I've seen a lot of ideas on how it would be possible to artificially trigger an "ice age" and cause the C02 to participate from the atmosphere there.

     @Hoss @pyrate @CoQ_10 @WashedOutGundamPilot I think even with all the flaws modern nasa has, I still think they do great work. If increasing the budget wasnt an option then I'd rather it remain stagnant for a while and do some restructuring or kicking out the agency's head whos a career politician and dismantling the old guard who gatekeep and induce nepotism in the agency.
     Then also preventing dumb ideas like continuing SLS which at this point is still there because of sunk cost.
     If I could have nasa do one thing it would be to focus more resources on going back to Venus and continuing where the Venera mission left off and the thought of it gives me goosebumps because it would be so cool. Thankfully they've already got something going for that but who knows how long it'll take before something major happens for a Venus mission

     The old nasa was a meritocracy that got shit done, the new one I cant help but sigh at.
     Like they've dumped billions of dollars and 20 years into SLS with almost nothing to show for it? And perpetual delays on launches
     Seems all the greatly skilled people go work for the NRO now or are low strung in nasas modern bureaucratic ways

     @pyrate @CoQ_10 @WashedOutGundamPilot @Hoss I can't find any reference too it I'll have to dig it up later but I remember there being a competition Nasa held to design analog machines not too long ago and they did a smart way about it by reaching out to niche communities of people who do that as a hobby, I think one of the bigger prizes was 100k
     I cant remember if I saw it a year ago or 3

     @WashedOutGundamPilot The booster destroyed all the concrete under the launch mount. It excavated a massive pit. Maybe they should have used a flame trench like was used on the other big rockets. The fuel farm also sustained a lot of damage and last I checked they are still without power. I believe the tower lights are running on a backup battery right now.

     With all the damage sustained I don’t know if they will be able to launch again anytime soon. There’s a lot of repair work to be done.

     To be honest though, I’m pretty fucking impressed that sonovabitch held together for as long as it did while spinning like that. Had to have put a lot of strain on the rocket yet it didn’t buckle.

     @john_rando People are pretty hard on them without realizing that they’re almost starting from scratch in a lot of ways. NASA lacked a lot of institutional knowledge that you’d need to pull from to start designing rockets from scratch again, and that counts for a LOT for big projects like this. You really need a 60 yo dude who remembers how things were when he started, so he can look at something and mention a remark he overheard on day 10

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Yeah, they were shitting on SpaceX when their first rockets failed. They also shat on them when their booster’s kept crashing trying to land. They are pretty good at landing their Falcon 9 boosters now.

     This rocket is so fucking big that there’s a lot of unknown territory they are dealing with trying to fly it. I watched an interview from a year or so ago with Elon giving a tour of Starbase. He said that SpaceX engineers had a long list of all the things that could possibly go wrong in testing Starship. But all the things that actually went wrong were things NOT on that list.
