   Had an interesting chat w/ lady waiting for the plane, said her daughter’s biggest complaint is that the guys that “ask her out” always do cheesy “chicken” stuff like muddying the waters between date & hangouts, like they’re afraid of doing something real or ‘datey’.

   Said she doesn’t like going over to stranger’s homes to eat pizza and watch netflix but it’s the only thing guys ever wanna do. 22yo

     @johnbudd1350 @SuperLutheran @WashedOutGundamPilot I’m into target archery so that might be a fun first date. Just gotta have a cheap loaner bow with a 20 pound draw weight suitable for weak femoids and I’m all set.

     @SuperLutheran @WashedOutGundamPilot Oo mini-golf is a good one. Along that same vein I'd also recommend rock climbing, especially if you have the agency to get your belaying license (it's not hard). You get to keep her from certain death and have a great time doing it

     Concerts; cooking dinner together; shopping for a shared interest; any kind of physical outdoor activity (bonus points for involving some kind of lake or river); hell even just going out to a bar and shooting pool is going to be better than "hey girl here's some pizza now let's watch marvel"

     @john_rando @johnbudd1350 @SuperLutheran For real, as long as you break the mold a worthwhile girl should be down. Guys will point to the skank’s behavior here as if it’s something to really worry about, because you can have experienced tinder gals balk at real dates as too intense or ‘relationshippy’, but that’s more a case of poor target selection than bad tactics. There’re multiple dating ecosystems at play now, much of guys’ complaints on both sides tend to be the result of playing by the wrong ruleset.

     I always used a ‘date’ as an excuse to do something I wouldn’t wanna do alone. I still love Ikea the most, low-pressure, lots of talking, and cheap souvenirs, but little eateries you want to try, or even doing silly shopping like going to the car dealer’s can kill some time too.

     If done around lunch time, it can also transition into a lunch date if you find out you like them enough, or it can be cut.

I always thought the Starbucks date was for faggot hipster urbanite bugmen. There's no "activity" or stimulus other than your drink. Not a fan of movies as a first date because your attention is off each other. Third or later, perfectly fine.
     
     The amusement park is good if you live near one - classic anime trope date. My brother and his wife would (and still do) go hiking as a "date," but I don't know if that was their first date.

     @Wisconsin_Kraut I like a pretext thing. Millennial women would sometimes be cagey if they felt like they had to carry too much of the conversational load. It would literally stress them out to think of walking around with nothing to talk about but each other. Having something to do in the background, multitask on, helps alleviate that stress and put them at ease.

     What I thought the classic trial date was coffee and a walk in the park? Or maybe dinner, but that puts to much pressure on me tbh much better to take her to the botanical garden during a magnolia bloom or something.
