@Hyolobrika@thatguyoverthere simply, a literal picture of a pitbull with a flower crown. I've seen the picture around, and it shows up in these arguments
@Hyolobrika@coolboymew pitbulls are notorious for biting people, and since they are such strong dogs they tend to do a lot of damage. I guess it's racist in so far as pitbull is a specific breed/race of dog.
My son was actually bit by a pitbull while playing with his brother (after it first went after his brother thinking he was being aggressive toward my son). Broke his arm.
@Hyolobrika@coolboymew I mean I imagine there is a meta layer to some pitbull posts. This is fedi after all lol. I know they have a bad wrap and you'll hear a lot of apologists argue it's the owner not the dog, and they are just like all other dogs but get an unfair shake because they are bred for fighting a lot. I think some of that is true to a point anyway. A lot of dickheads pick pitbulls and they end up biting people, but usually it's someone innocent who gets hurt (like in the case of my son).
@Hyolobrika@coolboymew I think it's kind of like "you can't polish a turd". No matter how cute they can be killers and you probably shouldn't leave them with the baby.
@Hyolobrika@coolboymew@thatguyoverthere a lot of pitbull owners tend to completely reflect responsibility or acknowledged that pitbulls are extremely agressive and try to waive off completely legitimate complaints that "it da owner"
@thatguyoverthere@Hyolobrika@coolboymew recently i saw a security video of a church parking lot. there is a family approaching their vehicle, a few kids. hundreds of feet away, a pit bull runs into the frame, seemingly out of nowhere, and it just hoofs it all the way to the family, a direct bee line to the littlest family member a little girl maybe 6 years old. the dog grabs her and starts mauling her. the man is desperately trying to beat the dog off the girl while the mother is rapidly trying to get the rest of her kids into the vehicle away from the dog. it is just insane. there is no other animal i have ever seen that does this. the strongest dog goes to extraordinary effort to go directly to brutally attack the smallest, most harmless thing within sight.
@Moon@Hyolobrika@coolboymew yeah they are not predictable at all, and when they attack it's a lot harder to stop them than other dogs. They have tremendous clamping power and won't let go. My son was in his teens and lived with the one that broke his arm, but before it attacked him it went after his younger brother. In their case they were rough housing, but it was something they had done countless times with apparently no indication it upset the dog. He lived with his Mom at the time. I don't know that I ever even met the dog, but before that I was more sympathetic toward pitbulls because my experiences have always been positive. I still think a lot of problems are dogs that have been abused and/or used as fighters, but I don't think I'm interested in experimenting to find out.
On a side note I do think my Akita might run someone down if he were ever given the opportunity. He's not bad but he is a protector and thinks passersby are aggressors. I tried socializing him early but he started getting big and making people uncomfortable wherever I took him pretty quick. He's good with family members and friends who visit often, but he can be a little untrusting of people he doesn't see often.
@Moon@thatguyoverthere@Hyolobrika@coolboymew pitbulls as a breed were literally created for violence and murder- straight and simple. they are literally selectively tuned and made for extreme violence and are very willing to engage an attack at anything it fits as prey. Their huge jaws will instinctively maul and rip off the necks of its prey with absolutely no mercy and absolutely will not let go. it's not the matter if it can attack- it can and is WILL inevitably- it's a question of when, and the 'when' is it being aggressor against an smaller animal- like another dog and very commonly a child or even a baby.
@Nelenese@Moon@Hyolobrika@coolboymew I've seen them used to hunt boar... Probably a suitable use if you have a boar problem. Not if you want to eat the meat though because what I saw was a pack being used to immobilize the animal so someone could go in and finish the job, then the dogs just tore at it. I can't imagine you'd want to eat a dog bitten ham even if you could get them off the animal post mortem.
@Nelenese@Hyolobrika@Moon@coolboymew yeah it seemed more like a sport than a necessity. That said maybe if you give them a target for their aggression they'd be less likely to eat your kids
@Hyolobrika@coolboymew they are popular among certain demographics  and I can imagine their bite stats could be used as an analog for crime stats.
It's also the white women owners tend to treat them as stand-ins for black people as well, especially when arguing online. I wish I was kidding but this is something they actually do.
@Hyolobrika no, it is not racist. It's just about pitbull owners that do shit like this screaming "LOOK MY PIT IS NOT AGGRESSIVE, LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS" and taking photos of their dogs that have heads like blocks of concrete
