   New ads are boring or has been ran into the ground at this point. I swear, whenever ad blocking on Twitch fails again, if I see another fucking cartoon bear wipes their fucking ass I'll go berserk

     I have some old VHS from Toonami I recorded when I was in high school because sports and hanging out with my friends meant I missed it most days. Those old commercials really hit different. Sometimes when I am drunk and feeling maudlin I will pop in my tapes to watch Outlaw Star or Ronin Warriors and make myself sad when I remember that is a world that no longer exists.

     @coolboymew it's because demos have changed. The demos that would still watch commercials are like 45+ so what you see is tailored to that. If you watch traditional tv that isn't sports It's basically all retirement plans, life insurance, and boner pills that might kill you.

And toilet paper isn't an isolated incident. Corporations won't stop buying ads, but they should, because I've never bought something from an ad, and frequently buy things from word of mouth and/or free samples.

     I'd imagine a good portion of the country would spend twice that much (or the equivalent amount of time) letting everyone know how manly they are for not having a bidet. Others would seek out and destroy bidets.

     They work great. The cold water is only jarring the first time. After a few uses, you can get clean and dry in under 15 seconds.

     You use far less TP. Once you learn the "dynamics" of using TP to grab water, you use even less than that.

     I just used a "High end" one for the first time yesterday and the heated seat is the only thing I can say is an upgrade. Electric controls made the stream suck, the warm water felt fucking weird... Like I was getting creampied with hot chocolate. Didn't even try the heated dry.

     The $30 attachment is a solid entry point and the overwhelming majority of people won't even see a use for anything more. Imo.

     @coolboymew I often look back on old advertisements. There weren't much algorithms back then, so the "general audience" selection of commercials were used. Not all worked, as sometimes you'd get a weird commercial meant for the parents in a kids channel. I recall seeing Countrywide Home Loan commercials on Cartoon Network during the day when I was young. Not even during Adult Swim. Nowadays it's mostly tailored, although I doubt that gamers are interested in Charmin products.

Best of both worlds, bots and weirdos get an easy standard to work with and Twitch isn't stuck with a bad server-server architecture for their purposes.
