@GayHateAlliance@news same brother shub I canceled tv almost a decade ago. I have IPTV service. two of them actually. and I don't use either inshallah I keep them in case of events or someone asks me to stream something
@graf@news@GayHateAlliance I only watched G4 Tech TV Canada and the cartoons channels. G4 is dead and the cartoon channels in Canada have horrifyingly split into 4 channels so there's basically never anything on and each channels looks like those low tier channels that has spam the same shows over and over again
@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance they killed the TV spirit when "low income" families cried they couldn't afford TV so the CRTC forced cable companies to offer a bare bones package for less than 20$ per month and make everything a la carte so you have to pay a dollar or up to several dollars per channel if you don't get them in a package bundle deal. because of this, less people are subscribing to those channels and thus those channels are no longer getting the funding they used to get.
tldr poor people begging for gibsmedat ruined cable TV more than globohomo on its own could have done
@coolboymew@graf@GayHateAlliance@news i want to say in the us you had to g4 also but i only watched some of it. as for cartoons i use to remember nbc and the other popular stations had cartoons on. now its just nick or cartoonnetwork. like sure you have boomerang and maybe some locals that might have a small block of looney tunes and etc.
@1iceloops123@GayHateAlliance@graf@news G4 Tech TV Canada was very different from the US counterpart which was Cops all day long. We had the still existing flagship G4 stuff, but we also has 1 anime during the weekend and it one upped Teletoon at some point and had a shitload of pretty good Adult Swim stuff, including one of the latest season of The Venture Bros at the time + other cool shows like The IT Crowd from the UK
> i didnt have cable growing up so i never really enjoyed watching tv
I didn't either. It was hell for so long. I finally got Cable at some point but it was during around the last 7-10 years of it being "good". You could already tell that shit was slipping slowly
@graf@coolboymew@news i didnt have cable growing up so i never really enjoyed watching tv. had to watch stuff like pbs kids. at my dads house we could watch stuff like spongebob that he pirated. also ive always used adblock so sitting through commercials is crazy to me
@GayHateAlliance@coolboymew@news commercials used to be fun. when I was young they were always edgy and thought provoking or funny. now it's just interracial couples paying bills, interracial couples with medication, interracial families eating breakfast, interracial couples working out, interracial couples....
@coolboymew@1iceloops123@news@graf only anime i saw as a kid was pokemon and 2 ghibli movies just started watching it a few years ago and now im a huge weeb
@GayHateAlliance@news@graf@1iceloops123 We got lucky in French and some basic channels got Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh at some point. Another channel also aired Sailor Moon but only R and only like 13 eps, same for Dragon Ball Z???
I was so mad I couldn't watch Card Captor Sakura
But man, no cable... as a very young kid at some point I was stuck watching the English cartoons I didn't understand on CBC. Mr. Dressup was cool but fuck that boring boat shit
@GayHateAlliance@news@graf@coolboymew yeah we had pokemon and yuigoh on cartoon network. i miss when they had anime on cartoon network. they had some on adult swim and some american cartoons like old supermans when i was little
2: Radio-Canada - News FR 6: CBC - News EN 12: CFCF12? - News EN. There was never anything good on this channel 17: Radio-Québec - Teletubbies FR 35: TQS - News FR 46?: Global - News EN
@graf@news@GayHateAlliance@coolboymew i don't mind watching the news for the weather but with the intenet many of them want you to pay. like if they would just run few banner ads i'd willing to read whats going on locally for a few mins.
@GayHateAlliance@news@graf@coolboymew yeah all the horrible things they talk about use to watch more investagtive stuff when i was younger and i liked it. but now it kinda blah.
@graf@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance I used to think à la carte for cable would be good, but honestly cable dtarted to really suck by the time they even considered it an option. So even if people vóòted with their wallets, it would be far too little, too late. My only reason for even considering that an idea worthwhile was that the base package was mostly shit I'd never watch. What people mistook as paying for shit they didn't want was actually bulk pay for bandwidth each channel potentially could occupy. Sorta similar to network throughput but I'd imagine the reason why some stations fritzed out was popularity causing signal fade... idk. I haven't participated in TV race in over a decade when Netflix went mask off.
@Whitewall_Blasphemy@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance I never paid for Netflix. my phone carrier used to not take visa debit cards and I didn't have or want credit cards so I used to buy prepaid credit cards to pay my bill so I would just sign up for a new trial account every month. fuck paying for that garbage
@graf@Whitewall_Blasphemy@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance Fuck netflix only thing I pay for is Shudder and Shudder literally is like "You wanna share your password go for it just enjoy the horror!" That's how these companies should run.
@puritysin@graf@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance I opted into it back in ghe DVD days, shen that faded, barely anything was worth the trouble of paying for. Heck, in a small part, that last show series I consumed on Ratflix was Black Mirror, which really started turning the decryption tumblers on my red and black pill journey. The show was shitty for all the right reasons.
@coolboymew@news@GayHateAlliance@Whitewall_Blasphemy@graf I remember hearing about Scream.I miss stuff like Chiller tv but Shudder has been a great source for horror especially with Joe Bob Briggs series on there and the Creepshow series which I can not fangirl enough over.
Here, pic related, using picture in picture mode, cool, thanks for suggesting it
But "airing TV" shit is, uh, weird. For example, the Dilbert cartoon died because they put it around shows that sucked so nobody watched it. What I'm going with is that I find it somewhat hard to watch these as TVs, even if it's something I've craved for, because they're not in a one in all thing with other worthwhile channels so it's kinda weird and I dunno. Maybe I'm just weird
@graf@news@helsech@GayHateAlliance@Whitewall_Blasphemy@puritysin Nah, the thing with TV is that it was great to put it and somewhat ignore because of reruns, too familiar shows and on. However, if I'm gonna put on something myself (especially something I haven't seen), I'd rather actually sit and watch it
I stopped part of the way into the 1st season because it was so unbearably jewish that it disgusted me. I think it was the episode where Duckman causes a super computer to go all Skynet and it creates a perfect crime free White utopia only for it all to fall apart because everyone is secretly a neurotic pervert that wants to see White society torn down. The amounts of projection were off the chart.
