     @caekislove @flux @BigTLarrity @BigDuck they were prepared to surrender prior to the atomic bombs being dropped because we firebombed/napalmed Tokyo and other cities, and the USSR declared war on them.

     the US govt. dropped the atom bombs anyway to see what would happen.

     Germany fought to the end because the “Morgenthau Plan” leaked and told the Germans that it would be better to die than to surrender.

     WW2 is also unusual in that the Allies/jews demanded unconditional surrender, and this is what kept the war going for far longer than it had to.

     the purpose of those wars wasn't to win them, the purpose of those wars was to run cover for the CIA to do their thing until they had no further "interest in the region" and then GTFO.

     @flux @BigTLarrity @BigDuck I've heard this and I even mostly believed it until Russia started a war using the same tactics and began losing just like the USA did.
     
     Even going back to WWII, we firebombed Germany and Japan for months on end and Japan didn't surrender until we demonstrated that we could completely glass their whole island*.
     
     *(possibly, they had no idea how long it took us to build a nuke)
