Now, in the same vein, someone went and made an experimental rendition of the staggerwing. Performance improves here, as well it should with a century of advancement, but it still uses a rarified and all too expensive 985 wasp junior.
The guy made it back in the late 90’s, when they had more of those things to spare, and he sold a handful of them. The bad? It uh….doesn’t look as good without all the details. Looks like it was whittled out of a bar o’ soap. But it can seat 6, and has a 2,000 pound payload - damn impressive for a kit plane and ACTUALLY livable. Hell, with some tweaks I bet we could sell a couple every year. Range was somewhere south of 1500 nm and stall speeds were very accommodating.
