     The translation I saw had it either 4 million or 40 million, but I also heard the claim it was 4 billion. Either way there's a lot of atrocity porn with dubious numbers in that section.

     the relevant part from within it:

     ‘The voice of Jacob’: this is the cry caused by the Emperor Vespasian12 who killed in the city of Bethar four hundred thousand myriads, or as some say, four thousand myriads. ‘The hands are the hands of Esau:’ this is the Government of Rome which has destroyed our House and burnt our Temple and driven us out of our land'

     "Four hundred thousand myriads", a "Myriad" in the ancient, original case means "10,000".

     400,000 x 10,000 = 4 billion.

     The lower estimate in revised talmuds (4,000 myriads) is a "mere" 40 million...

     Babylonian Talmud is authoritative over the Jerusalem Talmud I believe, but it is true there's been a ton of censorship and revisions over the years in both cases.
