   Fun fact: There are actually plenty of good and bad Catholic converts as well as cradle Catholics. People who think being vaguely nice to each other in lieu of Church structure and religious discipline are delusional about the realities of human nature, and often extremely lax on any number of sins to justify their attitude. Human beings are weak and depraved, and need both social support and the strength of ritual and tradition to guide them. Trying to be a saint without praying is as futile and impossible as trying to be a professional athlete without exercising.

     Also it's worth noting that there's a massive amount of spiritual starvation in the First World, yet too many within the Church have implicitly adopted a materialist worldview where giving more and more material assistance to Africa is what matters, and spiritually ministering to people in your own community takes a backseat. Of course, from a Christian perspective the First Worlder who's headed for eternal damnation is in more dire need than the starving Third World child who's going to heaven. It's also important to understand that the Church is the only organization capable of ministering to the soul in this way, whereas feeding the materially poor can just as easily be done by governments, NGOs, etc. etc. And extreme poverty has actually mostly been fixed, the importation of the Third World to the First mostly occurs out of a desire for luxury rather than necessity.

     There is almost no spiritual ministering in the community. Hell, there’s hardly even community. There’s millions of people who profess Christ who won’t even talk to each other. I can only imagine how much of a force for good Christendom could be if they weren’t so busy duplicating each other’s efforts over what mostly amounts to spite and stiff necks
