   I have been saying for years that Microsoft is a bully. But people will say they changed and are now friends with Linux and Open Source. Now, news is out that Microsoft and OpenAI are accusing Deepseek of stealing their intellectual property. So I ask, where did OpenAI get its data? Did they pay for it? Now, they are asking the government to look into it. A pathetic and greedy corporation only loves open source when they profit from it. 😂 Don’t trust Microsoft and its spyware software.

     I am so glad someone is standing up to these bullies and tech bros. Everyone here knows they have money, lawyers, & political influences. So, it is hard for individuals to fight. But they can’t fight open source. They lost their imaginary trillion dollars and are now mad. OpenAI and Microsoft always said individual book writers, journalists, and artists' copyright holders don’t matter. Now, suddenly, copyright is back on the table. This double standard tells you everything about their intentions

     The Dutch techies are a bit upset that this small OS project got taken down, while the big boys can keep stealing whatever they want.

     @nixCraft I NEVER trust corporations. They aren't friends with anyone but themselves and the dollar sign. It is a rule of thumb for any individual to understand that companies and CEO's, executives and hell, most politicians and systems aren't our friends, they don't fight for us, they lobby for themselves. Numbers go up and suits rejoice because they get to hoard more and more and more. I trust open source, always have. Ever since i got into Linux my ideals have changed. :heart_fire:

     @nixCraft What we need is a real, every day use, Linux phone so we can have a smartphone that is not controlled by a huge corporation. The currently available Linux based smartphones are not ready for prime time. I worry that if Linux smartphones ever started getting really popular, the carriers would ban them from their networks.

     I worked in IT for 30 years. Practically from the start, I said I would leave the profession rather than become a Microsoft shill. By dint of specializing first in Novell NetWare, then in Linux, I succeeded. I had to use MS products, of course, but I never had to evangelize for them. I retired in 2022 and now I don't have to use Windows ever again. <feelsgood.gif>

     @nixCraft Worked on Windows 3.1 for a few months Back in the Day. Decided Unix was a better bet after repeated crashes and lost work. Installed my first Linux system from a pile of floppies in 1990 (yay Slackware!).

     I have occasionally quit jobs over being forced to use inferior software. Now I'm retiring after a fruitful career. I hope this is still possible today, but I fear it's not.

     @nixCraft So true. Microsfot is a Sham. I use Arch BTW but on the real I do Love the "AI" tech. wish i could create one. i am using on my arch ollama llama2. i dont have enough ram for llama3.3 i wish but llama 2 is ok for now while i learn more about AI and how it works. On the real I wouldnt be wanting to use the CHinese one especially the way theyve been hacking us and putting us and tech they sell us in a cloud. like why does a vaccum need to be connected toa cloud in china. very fishy.

     @nixCraft Microsoft is friends with Linux and Open Source? With WSL, you can run a cut-down linux system without having to switch to Linux - you can stay on Windows. They've found a way to use Linux to make Windows more appealing to users.
