   I'm losing the fun of using #Pixelfed. During the arrival of many new users to Pixelfed, especially to the pixelfed.social instance, it's completely unusable, it seems to me that the server resources are insufficient. On top of that, the official app sorts instances by the number of users, which in effect promotes the largest instance and makes it unstable. I think this project is not ready for such a heavy load, or if it is, should promote other instances and/or uplift resources.

     @FediWouter I'm perfectly aware of this. However, design decisions like the fact that the official app sorts instances in the specifc way only increases this issue.

     @arek be patient, they are busy to upgrade. Don’t forget, there are no billionaires to buy servers. This are volunteers with financial support from people.

     @arek Yeah, it was pretty clunky and slow, but I think this shit with Trump coming into office and all the billionaires sucking his ass made PixelFed get an overwhelming number of users signing up.

     I'm looking for a smaller instance. Perhaps just put one up myself. You can certainly do that as well.

     @arek I set up a mastodon instance and it was fun, but I found that I really enjoyed all the people here at sfba.social. In the end, I think I just put them on an auto-donate and closed the one I had self-hosted.

     @arek I just browsed around the pixelfed installation docs..... nice, but quite a bit more work than mastodon. I think I set up a functional mastodon instance in an hour. This is easily a full day of screwing around and is still on the dev branch. :)

     @arek I switched instances to a new, small local one. Nicer in many ways, but at least for the moment the migration process seems buggy, so I'm just starting from scratch.
