   The thing you have to understand about techbros is that these are not intelligent people. Greedy, yes. Intelligent, no.

     @Sh41 Depends on how you define intelligence. I don’t consider idiots who would destroy their own habitat for some temporary profit intelligent. Each to their own, I guess.

     @aral I think the ones that are just greedy but not intelligent don't get far, the ones that are intelligent but not greedy also got eaten by the system.
     That leaves you with both. Not genius, but definitely intelligent, and obviously greedy.

     Yes, for me the bros coming to prominence in our industry was a profound loss.

     I came of age in a tech culture, that while not very diverse, was open, welcoming, and supportive.

     "Tech" today is a sewer, a huge part of the larger problems we face.

     Oh, except for here 😜 .

     @CartyBoston I think the problem is summarised neatly by that word “industry.” Extractivism charting the course for humanity is how we ended up in this mess. Until and unless we invest our common wealth in preserving and enhancing the common good, this is the path we’ll continue stumbling down.
