Oh they absolutely are, it's an impressive buzzword they can put on their CV. Being somebody who really does study AI it pisses me the fuck off, I've looked at the idea of using neural networks in gaming before and things like that. That's an interesting topic for me.
The problem is that AI is a pretty broad topic and most of what people are promoting or dealing with now is a form of machine learning AI that companies are becoming way over reliant on. My project involves creating villagers living their own lives based on a day/night cycle and reacting to various actions by the player.
So you can imagine just how much seething I'm doing seeing these absolute scam artists failing upwards to six figure salaries because of them being DEI hires and shilling for the right causes by having pronouns and flags in their bios.
I technically qualify for a lot of AI positions and could just show off my project and all the code I've written to get into one of these companies but I refuse to work with them because they're batshit insane.
